Neither Invisible Nor Visible

by ataraxia   Mar 18, 2010

Have you ever been to that point
where things are becoming transparent?
Every person, object, even words become crystalline...
like a lucid dream that starts to flicker out

the longer you don't give a thought about it.
The longer you touch something, the faster it is
for it to become so recognizable that
you start to miss it.

When you read, do the words become
less understandable?
'I love you' begins to sound shallow,
like stabbing a tree with a knife,

three words at a time, until you poke a hole.
'I do care' begins to invade a person's mouth,
jumping from people to people as if
they're trying to reach out to you and

want to cloth you with their sympathy.
And it becomes translucent and you start
to forget what they really mean. And
people start to meld into another form of breeze,

intermingling with the oxygen this planet
holds for you to breathe.
Another thick layer of air that
clogs up your system.

They're not there.

Nobody exists.

Or maybe
it's just you
who is
starting to become

invisible.
