Someone who believes

by Jessica   Apr 10, 2010

I want to be someone who believes.
Close my eyes and hold out my hand? Thank you kindly,
but I never liked those kind of games.
Blind faith was always more like a cataract in my eye,
and my throw was never far enough to trust.

I want to be someone who believes,
but an outstretched hand is a funny thing.
I had almost forgotten, when knuckles whiten,
a fist is formed of that same hand.
Could such a thing redeem?

I want to be someone who believes,
so roll out those faery tales,
and Ill try to be someone who believes
in you, like I once did
in Santa Clause or Jesus Christ.

Because an outstretched hand is a funny thing,
and faith is often more foe than friend,
but with your outstretched hand,
I think I found a way,
I can be someone who believes.
