Safe haven

by Black Heart Still Beating   Apr 13, 2010

Where do you go when pain
is drawn to you?
Where is your safe haven?
Behind locked doors,
where we all feel secure.
under the warm covers, camping out?
Hiding in the one place,
everyone knows to find you.

Lets go behind the barrier, as
enemy soldiers gun shots hit.
Bang. Bang. Bang.
The barricade, its coming down.
The problems of your life they come.
They come marching in.
There's nowhere left to run.
No places left to hide.

Cuts and bruises are
not always visible.
Raw throats scream,
and open wounds bleed.

The fast, they always run.
Only you stand your ground.
Head held high.
Fists clenched in defiance.
One blow at a time you endure.
Gash after Gash,
still you stand.

The bloods pooling at your feet.
The hits send you stumbling, staggering
and reeling.
Yet still you stand.
Echos fill your mind.
Words let lose with no remorse.
Voices of reason.
They send you plummeting

How much you have faced.
Oh, how much you have perished.
Only to have your safe haven ripped
away.
