This New Religion

by Luke   May 6, 2010

We met this world in disposition
Learned to walk and speak our minds
Discovered truths set by example
And dawned the masks we use to lie

Lie to minimize the consequences
Lie to guarantee a selfish gain
We'll take the fruit and bury the bones
Until we put each one in their place

Let's roll them over in their graves
With this new religion that we've made

Of neon lights and stale obsession
Cyanide in trace amounts
We'll wipe the smiles from their faces
The day we burn the old school down

And we will blare our Rock n' Roll
Fill the empty til we're whole
(Then forget about it)
Repeat the cycle til the end
If they don't break we'll make them bend

And when they claim to be thirsty
We'll give them brine from the lance
And wait them out til they're breathless
To keep the fearful entranced

So lets roll them over in their graves
With this new religion that we've made
And we will blare our Rock n' Roll
Fill the empty til we're whole
