A Husk

Time bleeds from these cuts, the blood of reality
as every moment passes, I feel more slip away from me
I lay here buried, buried beneath the sands of time
buried in perpetual dusk, where the sun refuses to shine

evolution has died, progress lays dormant
all has ceased to move, all is reticent
the sun hangs frozen, icicles penetrate the ground
all has become silent, for there is not a sound

frozen water permeates the very essence of life
it reaches for the sky, toward the crescent of strife
its edges are jagged, demonic teeth in a maw of death
from the orifice pours, vaporously icy breath

the ice; toxic and pervasive - a contagion
don't even bother with attempted evasion;
for the disease, it is already raging

all has fallen to the silence of graveyards
destitute, forgotten...all is still
the ice, it has spread wide, it has spread far
its' purpose? to contaminate and kill
