The bench

by Kadee   Aug 8, 2010

The Street lights come on and the sky frowns dark, but the lonely old man remains in the park. No one even cares that this bench is his jail. No one want to hear his story, hear what he has to tell. Day in and day out he sits by himself, on the bench he calls his thrown. What a sad life, alone in the world. No one to talk to,nothing to call his own.

From across the way on the merry go round little Sarah caught sight of the man staring at the ground. She crossed the park walking worry free, she quietly approached him, placed her hand on his knee. She said "hello, sir do you want to play"? he looked up at her and didn't know what to say.

The lonely old man bitter with years smiled at her and through his tears , said " i think i have forgotten how to pretend".

She took his hand in hers and walked with her new friend. As he looked down and saw the pretty blond curls, he couldn't help but think if his own little girls.

How he missed , the life he once knew, but the feelings of happiness now were renewed.

They played together until her mamma called her name.He went back t his bench and they finished there game.
He remained in the park 'till the day was spent but because of one girls kindness he died in content.
