Old Photograph (sonnet)

by Jenna   Aug 10, 2010

Found a picture of the past collecting dust upon the floor
Of a now fading distant memory,
Good times that our lives now merely ignore
As we move on and forget what used to be.

Sometimes we still stumble upon remembering
And smile at how things once were,
Then the present keeps on giving,
Silver friends gone and the golden years allure.

Time fades the echoes of once laughing dreams,
And in my minds eye I slowly forget how life used to be,
Thought we could beet this but the future is never what it seems,
Forgetting about life lessons from our memories.

Finding that photo from the past is a brief reminder
That all the promises we made of forever turned us into liars.
