Keep Smiling Away.

Listen to everybody,
Telling you that you're fine.
The whole time you want to scream,
"It's not your pain, it's mine."

You want to argue with them,
Tell them that they don't know.
But then they'll leave you all alone,
If those words make them go.

So you bite your lip hard,
Force out a smile.
:Yes, it'll be okay .. after awhile."

But you know it's not true,
As you slide into your bed.
You know it's not true,
As bad thoughts run through your head.

It's all a lie as you dig your nails
Deep into your arm.
As you start to do anything,
To get a little self harm.

You know it's not true,
You'll never be okay.
But you just nod and keep smiling anyway.

Because if you agree enough,
If you repeat it over in your mind.
Maybe some truth in the words,
Is what you'll find ..
