Ignorance

by myrtlerose9   Sep 13, 2010

She tried to warn you
he's been unfaithful
you avoid the signs
because he makes you whole

you think he's the love of your life
so you ignore his betrayal
ignore the knife

he's been killing you slowly
she keeps trying to tell
he's doing it knowingly
each and every day
hell, you don't even love him
so why do you stay?

you're approaching the point of no return
the point of inevitability
you fight passed the scorching burn
as you enter reality

she calls out to you
your final warning
it's your last chance
or you'll end up scorning

you almost regret
not dropping him like a dime
when you see him walk away
for the very last time

you cry in your bed
you want to go back
but you're so far gone
there's no getting back on track

you ignored it for so long
now she's done with you
but you want her here
to comfort you

she was there
she gave you fair warning
she saw herself in you
and now you're sitting there mourning

you watched her go through it
learned what to look out for
and then you ran straight to it
did you need to see more?
