Lighter Flicker

by Shealee   Sep 20, 2010

The lighter flickers
As she lights her cigarette.
The end of the stick turns
Crimson red as she sucks in.
Her lungs fill with smoke
And her nerves start to fade.
The stars twinkle in the sky
Above her beautiful body,
As she lays on the dew-touched grass,
With the only person she
Feels herself around.

The lighter flickers
As she lights his cigarette.
The smoke flows up
To the star filled sky,
As if filling the void
Between them and the universe.
The moon is high
Above their intertwined bodies.
They suck in and blow out,
As if blowing out their nerves.

Their hands find each other.
Their eyes meet
As they turn to see the other.
Their lips touch
As they roll around in the dampened grass.
Their tongues slip into each other’s mouths
As they get closer and closer.
Their encounter gets
Heated up as the man on the moon watches
From up above.

The lighter flickers
As she lights her cigarette.
The end of the night has come,
As the moons turns into the sun.
They walk away, hand in hand,
Cigarettes in mouth.
Love in their hearts.
Leaving behind their
Smoke cloud heading up to the sky.
