The Wandering Flame

by Ryan   Sep 20, 2010

How can you stand it?
This feeling of hopelessness,
That left your heart in slivers.
Like a mirror that you stared at so long,
It revealed who you truly are.
Broken.
Empty.
Devoid of all but a wisp of your life,
A fragment of who you were,
A shadow of who you wanted to be.

So tell me,
How can you stand this?
This utter loneliness.
These nightmares.
For yours is the broken heart,
Of a forgotten lover.

I see demons in you.
No reaction
Determination.
Must you walk this same bloodstained path?
No reaction
Defiance.

Why do you walk these twisted corridors?
Must you provoke the wandering innocent?
Hallways cross paths.
No hesitation
You turn left.
Why?

Did you tire of the same old path?
Was this planned?
No reaction
Helplessness.

Shredded hearts lay in this room.
Was it you?
I know you are searching but,
You won't find it here.
No, not among these uncompliant emotions.

I wish you would speak to me!
Your silvered heart offers no words.
You dark eyes show but a fleeting....
No-it's gone.

How can you walk so far?
Any mortal would be crawling!
Something drives you but,
What?
Tell me, please!
No reaction
Sorrow.

No, stop.
Look into my windy eyes.
Do you see it?
Yes, of course you do not.

May I?
Dear, your hand is cold.
Let me lead you,
I know the way....
Now, cast aside your life.
Trust

Well of course.
Butterflies fly,
Can you see it?
Perhaps another analogy....
A shattered rock?
Ah.
You see.

Well my love, we are at an end.
Turning does not profit you,
So onwards and through!
Faith
Cast aside your doubts my dear!
Into this silver pane!

How does this mirror teach us?
Perhaps it is not the mirror at all....
In our minds lay guidance,
A looking glass yields but a look.

It's as if we could reach out
And pull ourselves into another world
Just a glance.
A single crack
Spreading..

Shattered.
The pieces lie around you.
Do be gentle,
Each contains another you..
But not I.
I have taken me from you....
Despair
Don't cry love,
Our journey begins!
Now come, your life please.
That will be all.
