The mirror

by BatterY   Oct 27, 2010

I look at you,
And all I see,
Are many scars
And broken dreams.
You smile when you go to school,
But when you walk through your door,
The memories come flooding back,
Of all the pain,
Of all the fights,
That they said was all your fault.
Youre always the bad guy,
The enemy,
The foe.
But when you lock yourself in your room,
You begin to breathe a little freer,
Even for a sec.
Once they notice you are home,
You have chores and more fights to avoid.
You think, Why wont people just leave me alone,
And walk back to your room,
Where you pretend to be asleep,
But really your mind is far away,
In a better place.
A place you can call home.
Now you have tears in your eyes,
I want to confront you,
To tell you I care,
To make you smile again.
But as I get closer
And put my hand out,
The cold mirror glass
Pierces my skin.
For I want to forget,
Who I was,
Who I am,
And who I became.
Sometimes hurting myself is the only way
That I know Im still here,
Suffering,
Hating,
Wishing,
Pretending.
