Escape

by Kari   Nov 5, 2010

Walk in.
Make a left
Then a sharp right

Are you lost?
Are you confused?
Youre in a maze and you cannot get out.
Are you scared?
YOU SHOULD BE
Half-Truths and Smoke . . Intangible
Touch the ink and you . .Disappear
Worlds as tall as castle towers
Turn the page . . . .
And you are ecstasy to a god
Consumed, gripped,
Yet desperate for escape.
Finger tips clenched
On the hinge of the spine
But Nightmares who once walked.
Who once danced,
Who once spewed fear
And left desires with barely but a pulse
Are now trapped.
Pitiful echoes of themselves.

SLAM
Misted dreams
Fading
Just as quickly as the words
Disperse from your mind.
Yet condensation remains.
The residue of fear
Still courses through your blood.
Innocence of a smile
Captured beneath the eyes
Of a child who doesnt know
How not to trust.
Residue of loves heartbreaking tragedy
Rouse the dormant romantic within.
Tormented, you would sell your soul
If there only but existed a happy ending.
Every tear shed
Felt akin to
A hot poker burning your flesh
The pain immeasurable, unbearable.

THUMP . . . .THUMP . . . THUMP
Emotions remain on the high wire
They are not yet yours to control.

The inked words
Have buried themselves inside your heart
Yet your mind is yours alone.
Deep within its spheres
The penned words have penetrated.
Now its seems as though
Different worlds have surrendered
Leaving their gates open to you alone.
Momentary nothing seems
As it once was.
Then the axis turns,
Hyper drive in action,
And yet again you repeat the action
Of weeding out
The Fantasies, the Hopes, and the Dreams.
