Free

No words to express sorrow, none heard.
Mind is trapped like a caged bird.
Forever with this must not choke,
Single fragile bit of hope.

Stand behind a locked iron cage,
Misery is the only stage.
Freedom was never meant for me,
To view the world from this distant sea.

But wait what is this I see,
The seas are parting all for me.
Get my chance to finally be,
Whatever it truly means to be free.

Breaking free! Breaking free!
Going to be an entirely new something.
Something that laughs,
Something that grows,
Happiness can finally show!
If only for a while I finally get to see,
What it truly means to be free.
But soon, back in the cage must be towed,
Back to the confinement I was starting to let go.

Got my chance and now it's done,
The regrets once known is overshadowed by the sun.
The sun a bird, with clipped wings, wouldn't have seen,
But I feel so blessed to have experienced these things.

For one summer I was lifted of these chains,
Free from cages and free to use my own brain.
Guess what I'm trying to say is I was able to be sane,
I was finally able to live my life without a hint of strife.

Love that you all got to see,
The enchanting true and new me.
