For Imogen

by AngelicAngel95   Dec 8, 2010

Wrote for a friend of a friends daughters funeral, when her daughter died at 11 months old due to cot death :'(

I see the tiny coffin belonging to you,
It's such a shame that your time was due.
You were born so beautifully, perfectly small,
But god had sent his heavenly call.
So he sent an angel from up above,
To take your soul, but leave your love.
Now instead of watching you grow,
We are left with memories that will forever flow.
We'll all miss you with each passing day,
This lonely emptiness will never go away.
You were with us all for less than a year,
The pain of you gone is so hard to bear.
Your parents miss the chance of watching you change,
Now their house will seem so quiet and strange.
They'll miss your laugh and cheeky smile,
You filled their hearts with joy, if only for a while.
Now all these people are here to say goodbye,
To the little girl whose flown up high.
So when the angels take you away,
Remember everyone's love is here to stay.
Goodnight Imogen, goodnight our sweetness.
Our thoughts of you will never grow less.
