Escapism as a Way Of Life

by SmileeItsBritt   Dec 19, 2010

These days you're running full speed away from progress
you take every chance to blurr your life
you can't seek comfort in your surroundings
So you go through your days with glossy eyes.

it's like you've gutted out your sense of morals,
you've left your conscience at the door
you're methods are flawed at the edges,
because you can't see the light anymore.

each day you fail to look at the big picture
you only focus on the things that weigh you down
your heart is growing oh so heavy,
and your mind is so rundown.

You stumble and slurr your way through the chaos
you'll settle for anything you can sniff or swallow
you push yourself until you're barely conscious
but even the highest high is still to low.

You can't remember what the trouble was that started this,
you can't recall where you first lost control
but you need to find some source of light
before you're left without a soul.
