Like echoes

by Mr Rhee   Dec 22, 2010

I open my eyes,
but I do not see anymore.
I take air into my lungs,
but I can't breathe.

My footfalls are quiet steps,
like echoes that never come back.
My hands grip at nothing,
as though my fingers are cut off.

I listen and listen,
but the silence is painful.
I call out for another soul,
but I am unheard.

I bite my lip to draw blood,
and it tastes like bile.
I shake my head side to side,
but I can't stop the spinning.

I just stop everything,
but it all just goes on and on.
I wish I could live again,
and feel the world once more.

An excellent write! I felt the poem had both strength and atmosphere. in fact I read the poem twice because I thought it was that good the only downside for me was the title as I am fussy with titles but still an excellent poem as I have said
