The Bartender

by Chloe Johnson   Dec 29, 2010

Lady, what's your name?
How about I buy you a drink?
You handle those bottles so well...
Have me mesmerized, under your spell.
I bet you do this often
I can tell you that I don't.
I can tell you don't believe me
Typically I'm looking for sex, but with you I won't.
So gorgeous, that pretty little smile.
Will you flash it for me one more time?
I know you see my Juicy Contour
Give me a chance and you can have mine.
You're laughing at me, thinking I'm crazy.
But I know you're curious for me
You get hit on a lot, i know;
But other ladies can't do me.
You have your long black hair straight down
I have my Lucky jeans on
How about you leave with me tonight?
We could chase the moon until dawn.
Why are you laughing at me?
I know you're looking.
Pour me one more round
And I'll keep this booking.
"Baby, what's your name?" I ask.
You tell me you're not my baby.
I laugh a little, then apologize.
"May I please have your name?"
You smile a little
"Chelsea," you say.
I reply, "Chelsea, you're beautiful."
"Oh please. You're just another day."
Rejection isn't something I'm accustomed to
So I start to tell you about me.
You light up a little as I say I'm in law school
Such a locked heart, but I have the key.
"I know Sign Language, I have a horse,"
I trail off in thought.
But now I have her attention
She says, " You're not as bad as I thought."
Closing time is coming, I tell her.
But now she doesn't want me to go.
Finishing my beer, I get up
"Wait, " she says. "Tell me more before you go."
I smile a little smile
And I tell her to lean in.
"Come here, I have a secret,
I write poetry with my pencils and pens."
Know, I knew this is one way to a woman's heart.
This time I was right on.
She asked, "Really? You do?"
I say, "Yeah, but it's been too long."
Now the doors are locking
And everyone is cleaning up
She asked me to walk her to her car
And I thought, Tonight I have good luck.
We stood out by her Mercedes
She asked me more about my writing
I said when you read what I can write
I'll have you're heart flying.
The words that come our of my hands
Will leave you stunned
You'll feel like your heart has broke
Broken and gunned.
Her voice lowered, my heart started to race,
She said, "What else can you do with your hands?"
I smile and said, "I can make tonight feel like it was planned."
I saw the hunger in her eyes
As she leaned in for me
But to hear the rest of this story...
You will have to read my second poem please : )

*this is a true story. The second one will be posted by January 8, 2011. Thank you for reading : ) *
