Stormy Petrel

by Ross H Bruce   Jan 11, 2011

Stormy Petrel glides over the mountaintop
Tempestuous thought the heart can't be stopped.
Dumbfounded dreams linger in dubious mind
The vision to survive is the lonely guide.

Echoes of thunder roar from way beyond.
Violent lightning thrusts into the ground.
Relentless rain melts everything in sight.
Gushing wind whirls with all its might.

Soaring helplessly under the stormy sky.
Hatred in the heart cannot be disguised.
Hunger and suffering in the thirsty mind.
Emotion turns colder than the hardest ice.

Searching for something on the muddy ground.
Time is the enemy if nothing's found.
Confusion clouds the blundering eyes.
Delusion blurs the blinding mind.

Stormy Petrel you can no longer sing.
Merciless peril just broke your wings.
Imagine the dreams you could have found
If you had listened to the thundering sound.
