You Don't Know

by Christina McDowell   Feb 12, 2011

You look at her
So much anticipation, excitement, and infatuation
You look at me
An empty gaze in those green eyes
You look at her the way you have never looked at me
You smile at her the way you have never smiled at me
Yet she doesn't even know you're there
She doesn't know how you feel
And shell never feel the way I do about you
But the ones that don't matter always matter the most
And the ones that matter the most don't ever matter
And as I sit here in silence
You don't know the pain that pierces my heart
You don't know the hurt I feel when you hide things from me
You don't know about all the tears that have fallen because of you
The sleepless nights
The screaming from my excruciating pain
I can tell when you kiss me
That you're thinking about her
I can tell when you touch me
You're imagining what it would feel like if it was her
I can tell when you look at me
You wish it were her
Look at her
Now look at me
Tell me you love me the way you have never told anyone else
Hold me the way you have never held anyone else
Kiss me the way you have never kissed anyone else
I turn around
And you're already gone...
