Daytime

The sky is blue and the sun is shining,
But this girl is in a corner somewhere crying.
'Cause she's tryna go left but nothing's going right
So she's sleeping underneath some stars tonight.
And they'l twinkle and spark while she tosses and turns,
And though it's cold outside her soul still burns,
'Cause she carries a secret wherever she goes
Of the pain that he caused so long ago.
It's been 84 days since she left her home
Seeking a shelter to call her own.
Despite her maneuvers to leave him behind
She could only forget him with the aid of boxed wine.
She would walk down the street and there he would be
An illusion of him created by stale memories.
Then she'd stumble towards his familiar face
Only to find loneliness instead in his place.
After every failed encounter with the man she loves
She eases the hurt with cheap liquor and drugs.
As she crawled to her corner to get drunk again
She stared down herself remembering what she had been.
The girl who had it all, perfect grades, perfect face,
Now calls a damp corner and cardboard box her place.
And as the clouds tenderly kissed the shining sun
She could only cry to herself saying he was The One.
And it sucks how she let a single goodbye
Ruin the beauty of the daytime sky.
