Wind

by PebsM   Feb 27, 2011

I

Blissfully blind,
I stood there unknowing
Oblivious of the coming,
Inevitable fate

Like wind
Whisking past me
It was fast;
Barely felt

Reaction
Was futile,
Far far gone
Inaptly dealt

Pleading, calling
I've scarcely
Taken you in

Wind, don't go
You've barely
Touched my skin

How, can one
Consent,
Bend to unfairness?

How, can one
Forget,
Memories of joy?

How, can one
Let go,
Someone heart-deep?

How, can one
Continue,
With, a missing piece?

II

Laughter
Was our companion
It follows us
In every waking

Another day;
A joy
Sleeping;
A delay

Remember
The taunts,
The kicks,
The smacks?

Truly, for a
Reason,
Wasn't that
Enough?

Didn't we
Smile
And laugh,
Then cry?

Then why,
I ask,
Is there still
Goodbye?

The bond's
Tightly knitted,
It'd be hard
To take

The bond's
Getting deeper,
It'd be a waste
To break

III

You were
My sister,
My roomy,
My ally

You were
My comfort,
My cheer,
My smiles

You were
My rival,
My compliment,
My nightmare

You were
All that's happy,
And lively,
And bright

I could keep
On going
And going
And going

But truth is,
Soon,
I'll be deprived
Of the right

Soon, like
The wind
You will
Be going

Fully knowing
You,
I've barely
Enough time.

It's too
Soon to go,
I've barely
Enough rhymes.

Know that by going,
I'll be
Deprived of
My smile.
