Faraway Shores

by scars and stories   Mar 27, 2011

A moonlit rooftop
The corner at night
Drove over to your place
Life's not black and white

I will love you forever
But this sneaking around
Is not worth whatever
Consequences abound

I hope you remember me
As the girl you first met
We were so young then
And not filled with regret

That is the girl
Who will always be yours
Treat her well, ya hear
On those far away shores

Where the world cannot touch you
Where dreams can live on
Between twilight and magic
Where life isn't a con

But this person, this shell
Who stands before you today
Will go through the motions
Don't take it that way

We do what we have to
Don't make me admit
That I was tested
And couldn't commit

To the one thing I swore
I would always stand up for
It's funny, I guess,
That I can't fight anymore

So I will go my way
And you will go yours
But I'll always be with you
On those far-away shores

And maybe someday
Somewhere out in the sea
That place will come searching
And finally find me
