Just Like Old Times

Just Like Old Times

I'd forgotten what it's like
To have you by my side,
So close to me after such a long time,
And how breathtaking it feels to embrace you in this bitter night.

I can't believe I forgot what love means.
Right now -
I'm wearing my heart on my sleeves.
I beg of you,
Don't break it, please,
Because I might forget what love means.

I'd forgotten what its like,
To burst out laughing,
So hard and obnoxiously loud
And for no reason whatsoever other than feeling ecstatically around you.

I'd forgotten what its like,
To live my life on the edge,
So spontaneous and impulsive,
And, my dear, it's all because of you and your reckless ideas.

I can't believe I forgot what love means.
Right now -
I'm wearing my heart on my sleeves.
I beg of you,
Don't break it please,
Because I might forget just what love means.

I'd forgotten what it's like
To love someone,
So much that just you're heartbeat seems to be a blast,
And the best part is that he claims to really, truly, love me back!

And now,
I remember,
Us sitting down by the window,
Cuddling as we watched the sun rise,
Meaningless, or so it seems,
But I just can't believe I could forget what love means.

You know
You've already stolen my heart before.
Broke it without meaning to and I forced myself to forget
And never trust anyone with my delicate heart.
But now you have it, you own it,
To be honest, you always did!
This time, keep it safe, and promise never to break it.
I don't - ever- want to forget what love means.

Love is demonstrated kindness. Where burden is relieved, love speaks.
