War

by abandonedheart   May 13, 2011

Grab my things and pack my bags,
we must go to a distant land,
fully loaded I will stand,
for my country gun in hand,

Now we must all go to war,
and break down someones door,
will we even return,
I don't think they know,
They make you try to understand,
that we are fighting for our land,
which isn't even worth its sand,
I don't think they know,

Many have fallen most are dead,
will we live to see the end,
bombs still flying over head,
for my country i still stand.

A soldier marches through me ready to go to war,
I told you if you push me It'll be the end of the world.

Grab my things and pack my bags,
we must go to a distant land,
    fully loaded I will stand,
for my country gun in hand,

^ Really nice opening, the rhyme is good, may not always fit but doesn't effect this stanza too much. Also the flow is great since the length of each verse is about the same (amount of syllables).

Now we must all go to war,
    and break down someones door,
    will we even return,
    I don't think they know,
They make you try to understand,
that we are fighting for our land,
which isn't even worth its sand,
    I don't think they know,

^ This stanza is really nice aswell, though this verse seems somewhat off: "and break down someones door", but the way it continues is good, since it's absolutely uncertain whether you'll make it out alive. The rhyme wasn't continuous but that's allright.

Many have fallen most are dead,
will we live to see the end,
    bombs still flying over head,
for my country i still stand.

^Rhyme and flow are back. Story continues, so honest and heartfelt.

A soldier marches through me ready to go to war,
I told you if you push me It'll be the end of the world.

^ Quite deep at the end, finishs the poem nice though. All in all it's a really good and well written poem, thanks for sharing.
