In Despair

by Thomas Pender   May 30, 2011

Will you call to me
when the last times fall
and clerics on high thrones of gold
bend with smiles of death
and speak of eternity

Will you look for me
in grottos of cold beatitudes
where heaven's choirs scream
a forlorn dirge of rage
for the innocent ones

Will you speak to me
with words of hard agony
ringing through a death held night
and chimes of wild despair
peal over empty graves

Will you dream of me
when the long battle rages
fear and madness loosed
and spirits march through history
and fields of shattered bones

Will you sing to me
in the dark night of burning
where lost in a morass of blindness
I search the searing flames
for a sign

Will you cry for me
when the cold reaper beckons
and turning to the West I walk
down eternity's endless road
to the stars
