Where the Road gently turns

by Thomas Pender   May 30, 2011

This quiet moment awaits us all
there on the threshold of our tomorrows
and where the road gently turns
life's direction may founder
The single sliver of time gleaming
with all the final precious things
flowering in the light
and there where the road gently turns
I will find your eyes

And who now strides my shadow's reach
there where the call of morning rises
and where the road gently turns
life's beliefs may blossom
The single breath of warm salvation
with all the final prophetic words
spreading on the page
and there where the road gently turns
I will hear your words

And the years of life will slowly wane
there where eternity waits for all
and where the road gently turns
redemption awaits the pure
I feel the wind slowly turning
in the chill of autumn's evening
life's detritus gathered
and there where the road gently turns
I will feel your touch

Beneath the crystal shining stars of night
there where the last waning moon sets
and where the road gently turns
hope rises from the land
I feel the hand of nature guiding here
and souls bend to walls of shadow
with the light of tomorrow glowing
and there where the road gently turns
I will call your name
