I Wonder

by Thomas Pender   May 30, 2011

I Wonder
If you were to ever know
my propensity for loss
would you still turn away
and bleed your tears alone
Walk you then your private strand
in torment's frigid wind
But should you turn to face the waves
I will bend to meet your eyes

I Wonder
Do we still dance on some thin ice
in a heartless futile whim
Will no words of understanding
fall from your fragile lips
Swim you then in waters deep
on a distant lifeless shore
But should you walk again this land
I will walk with every step

I Wonder
If I were to hold the spears of hate
with no sutures over bones
Would you walk another path
where you cannot hear my call
Come you then to stand beside me
so your secrets can be mine
But should your long bright dawn arrive
I will rise as one reborn
