I will Lie Down

by Thomas Pender   May 30, 2011

I will lie down in grasses green
and face toward the East
Here sparks creation
The dew cold glittering
beneath my back
On high Stars ride the sky
Patterns for the mind
A waning Moon hangs to shadow the land
Here I think of fears unfounded
The vital insubstantial things
Things of high import
without meaning
But now here as I stare
Where Nature speaks in feelings
Where my body reclaims a truth
That there is but one great thing
One to lift the spirits high
To always have the eyes to see
The great day that ever dawns
And the light returning
that fills our world
I will sit now on this bejewelled green
in this quiet hush of mist
And await the Sun
