You

by Thomas Pender   May 30, 2011

Here we stand you and I
The bond of years around us
A cascade of gleams through the rain
as the life giver's shearing rays
dance on the East wind
Here by the rippling water's edge
I hold you close
and remember the wild days
When I once beheld your misted eyes
for just a single fleeting moment
reflecting Orion's mighty sweep
On a dark and starry night
My heart was lost
You clutched my hand
and whispered our future
and I Dreamed
A fire sparked within my soul
glowing with the spirit of you
We stood bound and held
by Love's bright awakening
I hold you now as I held you then
a long lifetime ago
before life's tide ebbed
and the memories of years
flow behind my eyes
To have held your love
to clothe the passing years
This.....
is the most wonderous thing
that I have ever done
