I once Loved

by Thomas Pender   May 31, 2011

I once loved
I gave it shape in my mind
and held the token form
Until I saw Rainbows and Clouds
and Hills of dappled green

This Love so easily held
and made peaceful
the years of single wanderings
to streams of tragic flow
and detritus on the shore

But hope held my view
as Clouds gave birth to ash
Listening to my heart beat
in a bitter rain's flow
I remembered the love for all

Crouched by bleeding embers
I feel the soul of life quiver
and will the caster of stones
forstall the cold tragedy
of a World left unloved

I once loved
I gave it shape in my mind
and here in the last gloom
I will raise my spirit
to resurrect love's lost hope

that we may live
