All the Places

by ntv650   Jun 11, 2011

Tonight the night behind the stars is that much darker,
The whites are so much whiter beside the black
And, without explanation, it reminds of people we have met,
Of places we have seen.
They have become a myriad of beautiful faces
Swimming, and troubling our nightly peace.
We are homesick for all the places we have been.
The buildings, paths and chances,
Landscapes, weathers and classrooms
Will outlive our moment of existence.
It is a deep sadness, but an equal happiness.
And our friendships shall burn all the brighter
By sharing this brief appearance in eternity.

But let us not forget, before becoming completely lost
The desires we succumbed to and regrets we nurtured,
When overwhelmed, tempted and confused.
But none of us are indifferent,
That is the greatest - and only - truth.
Even in the plummeting nothingness of depression we push on.
Every action to which we must react is a growing echo
That resonates deeply inside us with real emotion.
These things makes us brave, they make us something.
They answer why we pursue the meaning of life
Without learning how to Live a single day in one...

We are homesick for all the places we have been,
It is the price we pay, us, who wish to hold no regrets.
Tonight I say we must move forward, not backwards,
upward and onwards;
and always falling, spiralling, twirling towards freedom!
