After Life

by jdsus   Jun 14, 2011

In a pine box
wrapped in sacred cloth
he waits
plastic flags disintegrate
red white and blue dust blows
grass grows
trees are pruned and pruned again
by an army of Latino men in matching clothes
and so it goes
here every day is the day of the dead
and overhead small planes into clear skies noisily ascend
