The empty building

by Joe   Jun 24, 2011

This building is not a home,
About as friendly as jail
Three years is the sentence the judge handed out
After that the canary is out of the cage
Liberated at last
Free from the house of the condemned
But for now the cage is still tightly locked
Light shines into the cage from the window nearby
A taste of what true freedom is
Only temporary relief before it all goes dark
