Show no love

by Michelle White   Jul 1, 2011

Is it our past that determines who we become?
Can we change who we are when we can't change where we're from?
Was it us as children that made the bad times repeat?
Or was it because we were too afraid to speak?
Is it our fault if we don't know how to trust?
Or is it a result of living a life so unjust?
Do we grow up to believe all the bad things that were said?
Or is it just the voices repeating in our heads?
Would they believe what I say or would they say I lie?
Would they comfort me if I was to break down and cry?
Why when I told them did they look at me with shame?
I was too young to understand what he said was just a game,
Why did they take his side without a second thought to me?
Why was it so hard to try and make them see?
What would I have to gain by lying about the past?
All I did was tell the truth and it was me who came in last,
So now I have a rule... One I swear by everyday,
It's tattooed on my chest so I know I will obey,
When there's a chance your heart could be spilled,
'Show no love, love will get you killed.'
