Breaking Free

by Mariah Renee   Jul 7, 2011

I broke all the chains that strangled me,
and became everything you hated I'd be.

Just to look in your face and see the spite,
I grew up swearing you were always right.

But i saw through what you kept hidden,
Tied me down and the world was ridden.

You blinded the truth, so we couldn't see,
That we were locked in a box with a broken key.

You believed just a glimpse would ruin the mind
But i became curious, on what i would find.

Losing your grasp, you gripped a bit harder,
Breaking free had made me smarter.

I'm walking away mom, but remember this...
Your house was a Hell, I'll never miss.
