The Lost World

by Ezra Storm   Jul 16, 2011

There was a world I knew
Where skies were always blue
Where smiles were wide
And no one cried
Where flowers always grew.

And in this world of mine
The sun would always shine
And times were bright
And black and white
Were split by a clear line.

But as the time went by
The birds refused to fly
They quit their song
Right turned to wrong
The sun had left the sky.

And while the darkness reigned
All men became enchained
And it would seem
They ceased to dream:
Their hopes became contained.

And so I write this rhyme
A document of time
I write my songs
To right our wrongs-
We've fallen in our climb.

I hope one day you'll know
The warmth of truth's pure glow
Preserve your skies
Beware of lies
And watch the flowers grow.
