LIfe's Fight

by Ron Mack   Jul 19, 2011

What if life was a work of art,
Frozen in time and space,
To be enjoyed and looked upon
Any time and any place?
It's beauty would leave us breathless,
And solace all our pain,
And be for us a blue heaven,
Letting us forget about the rain.
But life is not cold marble
Or oil on canvas or wood,
It beats within a living heart
Of fragile flesh and blood.
Sometimes life is cloudy,
And sometimes the thunder rolls,
And sometimes comfort is hard to find
Though we search from pole to pole.
Therein lies the burning question
We each and all must ask.
Do we wish for a life without problems,
Where we wear happiness like a mask?
Or do we look for a fight worth fighting,
Although painful will be the task?
I'll take the fight every time,
It will let me know I'm alive.
It will let me feel real feelings
And will my spirit revive.
