My name is Sasha
I am ten
My mother works
For a lot of men
I am in fifth grade
I have only one friend
My father hates me
To the death
I asked him a question
About math
And his response was
Just a laugh
So then one day
My dad comes home
To his den
To calls his mother every day
His mother has cancer
He is upset
He talks about it every day
One day his mother
Didn't pick the phone
So he rushed over
To take care of her
He stayed with her
Till she was healthy
And at that time
I feel like
I can come home
Without being scared
Of him laughing
At me
But the one day
The doorbell rang
It was my daddy
At the bell
So as he entered
It was hell
He cracked a joke
About my health
And so passed months
And every day
I felt like
Coming home was hell
So one day
He laughed again
So this very day
I go fill the tub
And when it's full
I look ahead
And I decide
This is the day
I close my eyes
And slowly count to ten
I slowly closed my eyes
And left
My name is Sasha
I am ten
Today was the day.
