A Smile That Lies

by amanda   Aug 30, 2011

She smiles and happily
chats with her friends.

She refuses to gossip
and is a faithful secret-keeper.

She is the picture of
sincerity and happiness.

But she is alone
constantly forced to
wear a mask.

She is crushed by the
demons in her head

She tries to call for help
from the people she loves.

She is ignored, those around her
refusing to see her
tortured soul,
reassuring themselves with her
temporary smile.

She wears her mask
so convincing in it's deceit,
that for a time,
there is no pain.
