Sleeping with the Lights On

by Michelle   Sep 26, 2011

What's it like to know
That your face can inspire a nightmare?
Creeping into my unconscious
Now I don't think that that's fair
I wake up from that sick world
Afraid to go to sleep
Afraid to see your face again
So awake I will keep
I drag myself into my fantasies
To soothe my racing heart
But what I cannot see
Is your face looming in the dark
History I push away
When I'm up and about
Comes back with a vengeance
As soon as the lights go out
Now that all is said and done
I'll go to sleep once more
And pray that in this one
I won't see your face anymore
