I didn't wanna admit it,
I didn't wanna take that responsibility.
But I guess it comes down to those 5 cliche words:
"It's not you, it's me."

I didn't wanna say "I'm sorry" for breaking us apart.
I kept telling myself it wasn't my fault, even though I knew it was.
But here I am, this is my apology.
Open, vulnerable; Shan this is me.

2 years ago, I professed my love for you.
After everything I had felt, I knew this love was true.
I felt your heart beating with mine.
And every time I felt this, it felt as though everything aligned.

I know I hurt you Shan,
So I don't blame you if you just seem me as some moron in some far away land.
On top of how I've hurt you,
There was the distance factor too.
Although you were young and I was as well,
It wasn't just coincidence that both us fell.

Our love was amazing and was able to overcome all,
Until that night, where everything began to fall.
Taylor and I, we made that mistake
Even though I had you and she had Jake.

October 19th, 2010, my life almost came to an end.
I almost lost you, our love never to mend.
I've almost lost you many times,
Because of other reasons, because of lies.

I know there isn't such a thing as a good lie,
But my reasons weren't in spite.
You were my proof that angels exist, you're amazing,
So in your eyes, I just wanted to be something.

I know it was never right,
Even if you don't believe me - it still haunts me day and night.
