Look and see the truth

by Sherry Washburn   Oct 2, 2011

Views astray, coming across the shadows bare.
eyes of clay, clouded through the sightless glare.

here I stand, deserted, never to be found.
my demand, across this wasteland i am bound.

through myself, i see the life i set ashore.
denying all the dreams i felt before.

look outside, the truth that i endure and hide.
friends aside, you are the one that kept me tied.

happiness, a mask i've painted on my face.
to masquerade the tears, and feelings of disgrace.

no longer will you tear me up with lies.
now that i see you through unclouded eyes.

a new life, begins once i leave this nest.
ending all the pain, so I can finally rest.

shutting the door, forever from the lies you stow.
so please leave me now, and just let me go.
