Our Lives

by Donnie Schrieber   Oct 20, 2011

The Happyness it Fades Away
Into the Shawdows of the Day
Before are Dreams were Scolded into Ashes
Left with only Embers Torn into Shatters
All that I can Think of Is What We could have Been
And was there Anything I could have Done
When I Remember When
All Life did was Cast us Out
And Spit on Us and Knock Us Down
And Now the Summer Fades Into the Chill of Fall
Our Youth has Gone Away
Before We Even Knew at all
Before Ya Know it will be Lost
Turning Gray in Winters Frost
Just a Footnote Passing by
Kept Alive in Someones Mind
Our Past Forever Locked Inside
Remembered only to be Brushed Aside
If for Only Once Within Our Lives
Our Time has Come to Rise
Rise Up from what is Burned a Sunder
Rise Up so High to Meet the Thunder
And Fly with Me One Final Time
BEFORE WE HAVE TO SAY GOODBYE
