This Lovely Tragedy

by Doug   Jun 24, 2004

A guardian angel weeps tonight
As a body lies limp in his arms.
His love, devotion, and all of their dreams;
Crushed in this lovely tragedy.

He looks up to the sky
And cries, “Why, God? Why?”
His eyes wander back to her face
Stained with tears.

Mascara runs black down her cheeks.
He asks himself what went wrong.
Protecting her life was his purpose,
And now, she is gone.

A note left crumpled in her hand
Is her apology.
“My love, my angel, please forgive what I have done,
But I took my life to be with you, in heaven for eternity.

I can’t live my life without you by my side,
Although you watched over me everyday.
You were so far away and I wanted to be near,
The one whose heart holds me most dear.”
