Halloween Poem - Lurking in a Graveyard

by Courtney   Dec 2, 2011

In the dark deserted, doom-staring graveyard
Next to the crumbling tombstone
Is where I stood that night

As the trees spoke dark words
The full moon stood still
And the salty dead scent
Consumed the air around

The overpowering taste of death
Drew closer like the night ahead
My heart stopped and felt as hard as stone
As the wind slapped me across the face

Lurking shadows in the distance caught my attention
And the prickly grass scratched my vunerable skin
Noises filled my head with nightmares

The vial, unforgiving graveyard
Kept me as a terrorized victim
I crunched the soil beneath my shoe
As i walked with fear
Through the gates of hell
