The Sound of Music

by fresco   Dec 20, 2011

The streets of Salzburg resonate
With multi Mozart revelry
By every arch and rustic gate
Play international minstrelsy.

And soon the von Trapp tour appears
Our jolly ladies sing-a-long
"Ah look ! That's where the little dears
Performed their Madel icing song !"

Yet just beyond these charming scenes
Lies Hitler's wartime Adler lair
And coaches slaking darker dreams
Sneak off to fog the alpine air.

And Wagner down the mountain rolls
To crush the tongues of sweeter souls.
