Icy Falsehood

by Lofallenve   Dec 20, 2011

Snow falls from the heavens;
Tundra of desolation lies before me,
The white of the blizzard skews my vision,
Formidable mountains of incredible height,
Barely peak over the conquering mist
As the condensations pierces straight down to my bones,
I shiver and I tremble,
Cold temperatures threatening to make me anesthetized;
The snowflakes are packed tightly around my knees,
As I make my slow progress closer to the peak.
They are holding me back, gripping me tight,
As trying to make me give up this fight.
My fingers have gone numb from the cold,
The color of purplish-blue held my attention for but a moment.
I tried to move my fingers, but they refused to bend.
So on I continued my way.
Feeling like I'm walking in place,
The formidable mountain never seeming to be closer.
I stumbled and fell into a pitiful heap,
This cold is so overwhelming,
Now that I am lying here,
I do not want to move, I do not want to leave.
An Angel of Deceit,
Sings softly through the Flurry,
Seduces my eyelids closed,
Convinces me that I am somewhere warm.
This sweet little temptation I am quick to believe.
Lying in my blanket of icy weather,
A smile that is slow to thaw through the ice,
Freezes the moment it is freed.
You will find me lying at the foot of
The formidable mountain,
With a smile upon my frozen figure,
And you'll know it was a small lie,
That had caused me to give up life.

    I absolutely LOVE this poem. It is amazing, it created beautiful pictures in my mind. I like how you word things and the words that you use to explain things.

    Okay, this is the 2nd poem ive ever read of yours and right away you've become one of the best picture painters in poetry i have ever seen, your ability to word things in such a way the reader can literally visually see what your saying takes a true gift. This poem is no different, the vocab is is faultless. Well done miss. 5/5
