Rainbows

by Misguided Ghost   Dec 27, 2011

Someone once told me
That all I have to do
To see the rainbow
Is to wait through the rain.

But rainbows aren't real
They're just illusions.
Why would I willingly suffer
Just to be fooled again?

I rather be numb forever
Than to feel this hurt,
Only for a moment of joy.

A rainbow is like happiness
It seems worth the wait
Through the cold and wet weather.

But anytime I get close to it
I end up in disappointment and sorrow.
Feeling more empty than ever before.

And that emptiness consumes
Every last ounce of bliss
I have left...
