What Am I Now

by Skarletta   Dec 29, 2011

What are you

Tears streaming down my face
Each one holds a key to my heart
Transfixed with a razor blade
My face is warped in silence

What are you

Triumph is held over my head
Like an hourglass, it dissolves rapidly
Sand covers my eyes until I see no more
But I still feel the pressure of it there

What are you

Water pours from somewhere hidden
Trying to put out the fire inside of me
Not to calm me down, but to kill
Because the fire is all that is left

What are you

Held to my neck is a mirror, look down
I can't see what you see
I need a change, and fast
But you'll never tell me what it is

What are you

My brown eyes tell no stories worth hearing
Take them out and the expression's the same
My parted lips will spill no secrets
Sew them shut and listen to the same silence

What are you

Daisies in my hair, I walk to you
Face eroded away with the pain of loss
Innocence eroded away with too much knowledge
But I still cry when you ask me

What are you

Because only you know what I used to be.
